OOTD: a day at the Pumpkin Patch

One of my favorite fall traditions is going to the pumpkin patch with my family. There’s a very nice one about an hour from where I live that has all the fall essentials; pumpkins, apple cider, corn mazes, and a petting zoo! I had such a fun day and it was an awesome opportunity to wear a cute, fall outfit.

Scarf- Marleylilly • Shirt- Polo Ralph Lauren • Pants- PacSun • Boots- Hunter

I loved feeding the baby goats, they’re so cute 😍 I painted my pumpkins with a Lilly P First Impressions Rose and a little J with some polka dots. I love how they turned out! I had such a fun time doing fall things with my family. Did you do any fun fall things yet?

October Picks

Hey everyone! So I recently ran a poll on my Instagram, @styledbyjessicablog, and asked if you guys liked my monthly picks and a majority said yes so I’m back with another round of monthly picks. These are products I’ve been loving this month and hope you guys will love too.

ka-brow-hero_new1_0.png

ka-BROW! Gel Eyebrow color in 2 light, Ulta, $24

I tried a lot of new makeup this month just because I felt like I wanted to mix up my routine. I mentioned a lot of it in my Fall Beauty post but there was one that I forgot to talk about and that is the Ka-Brow by Benefit. I got this as part of the 21 Days of Beauty sale. I’ve never tried a gel like this and I was pleasantly surprised by it. I felt like I needed to use less product than I usually do and my brows looked super full. This is definitely not for beginners, but if you are in the mood to step up your brow game, I would recommend this product.

Luxe Super Long Open Front Cardi, Old Navy, $36.99

Over-sized cardigans are my weakness. I am always cold so 9/10 times you see me, I have some sort of sweater. My favorite one was lost in June (RIP), so I needed a replacement. I was unsure about this one when I saw it on the hanger, but when I tried it on I quickly fell in love. It’s very well made so it doesn’t snag like my old one. I also has pockets which is always a plus!

Chill leggings in True Black, Aerie, $15

These are my favorite leggings ever! I’ve been getting so much wear out of them recently because it’s getting colder. They’re thick and comfy, unlike some leggings for that price that are thin and shiny. They’re on sale for $11 which makes them even better!

Let me know what kind of posts you’d like to see by messaging me on Instagram or leaving a comment below. I love hearing feedback from you guys! Until next time ❤️

Fall Beauty Products

As the weather gets cooler, I find myself reaching for different makeup products than during the summer months. I tend to use a heavier foundation during this time of year and reach for different color pallettes on my cheeks and eyes. Here’s some of the products I’ve been using so far this fall that I think you’ll like too!

Milani Conceal and Perfect Foundation, Walmart, $8.97

I had heard a lot of positive reviews for the Milani products and I’m so happy I’ve been able to get my hands on them! This foundation blends very nicely on to the skin and isnt too heavy. It’s great coverage and I would recommend to anyone looking for a new foundation.

Smashbox Photofinish primer, Ulta Beauty, $16 for travel size (pictured above)

This is another product I heard really good things about so I just had to try. My skin gets very oily and shiny by the end of the day and this product prevents this. It saves my makeup from melting off by 2 pm. I got the travel size so I could test it but I would totally buy the bigger one now that I know how great it works. If you have oily/combo skin or big pores, this is for you!!!

juju

Bare Minerals Gen Nude Matte Liquid Lip color in Juju, Sephora, $19

I love nude lip colors. I have a slight obsession if we’re being honest. This was a part of the 21 Days of Beauty sale at Ulta and it looked like something that was right up my alley. It’s so creamy and soft and it smells like brownie batter! This is my favorite liquid lip I own right now. The color, Juju, is the perfect pink for fall. Obsessed! Love! Try it out!

milani blush

Milani Rose Powder blush in Blossom Time Rose, Target, $6.99

I’m blonde so peach toned blushes look great on me. For fall, I wanted a darker peach blush. How could I not get this one?! The little rose is so cute!!! Not to mention this blush is actually really great. You only need a little of it to give your face a pop of color that says ‘I’m awake’.

I would highly recommend all these products if you’re looking for some new makeup to try. One of my favorite things is sharing new products with you guys so let me know if you try any of these and how you like them. See you next time!

Fall Layers

Happy Fall, y’all! I think I can easily say that fall fashion is pretty much everyone’s favorite. Reds, plaids, boots… what’s not to love! One of my favorite things about fall is layering. Adding layers to an outfit can make it more interesting and give a different vibe to an outfit. I’m going to show you two ways I’ve been layering so far this fall.

Tee- J Crew, Chambray- Polo Ralph Lauren, Monogrammed necklace- Etsy, Choker- Rendevous the label

This first combo is a little unexpected but I love it! I paired this gold coin choker with my gold monogrammed necklace. With the olive tee, I think this is such a cool fall look. Depending on what you pair it with, this necklace mix be worn in summer or spring too. I’ve never been a fan of the layered necklace trend but with the monogram in there, it’s definitely more of my style.

Flannel- J Crew, Cardigan- Old Navy, Jeans- American Eagle, Flats- J Crew, Necklace- J Crew

Next is an outfit I’ve been thinking about for a while but never got the chance to wear until this fall. Layering the flannel with a cardigan gives this look a cozy vibe. I was so nice and warm in this all day!! The layered pearls just adds another layer to the outfit. I wore flats because I didn’t want to get too hot but riding boots or Hunters would be so cute too. You could also do leggings instead of jeans for an even comfier outfit. This would be perfect for a casual Thanksgiving or family party this fall/winter.

Top- J Crew, Skirt- J Crew, Headband- J Crew, Necklace- Etsy

Lastly I just wanted to mention this top from J Crew! It makes you look like you have layers on, but it’s really just one shirt. I love it because it’s less bulky than actually layers, so you could wear it on fall days that are a little warmer. The button down sleeves make this top look classy and more dressy than without them.

I’m always cold so layers for me are an all year thing but expecially this season! I hope I’ve given you some outfit inspo for next time it’s 40 in the morning and 70 in the afternoon (so tomorrow). Show me your layered outfits on Instagram! (@styledbyjessicablog). Happy trails ❤️

My Go-To Casual outfit

Do you have that one outfit in your wardrobe that you always reach for when you’re feeling uninspired and have ‘nothing to wear’? Well you’re not alone! Today I’ll be telling you guys about one of my go-to outfits for when I feel like I have nothing to wear. This outfit is all over Pinterest and some pieces can be swapped to mix it up. This is how I most commonly sport this look.

Tee- Old Navy • Jacket- Old Navy • Leggings- PINK • Sneakers- New Balance • Hat- The Pinky Girl Monograms • Jewelry- Tiffany and Co.

Field jackets are a staple in pretty much everyone’s fall wardrobe. It adds layers which is perfect for this time of year. You could swap leggings and sneakers for jeans and boots to make this outfit more dressy. Sometimes I wear my monogrammed necklace instead of the hat to make it less casual as well.

This outfit is always in my suitcase and it’s perfect for when you want to look cute while running errands. I hope this gave you some ideas for next time you’re stuck on what to wear. Check out my Instagram for more outfit inspo, I try to post daily! Until next time, lovies ❤️

My Last Homecoming Weekend

Senior year is full of bittersweet lasts: last football game, last homecoming, senior nights. This weekend was all of these for me. I love school dances, expecially homecoming, so it was a little sad for me but still lots of fun! I forgot to take pictures throughout spirit week, but my outfits weren’t that inspiring so you’re not missing much.

Friday was my last pep rally and my cheerleading senior night. It was so much fun and I wish I could relive it all over again!

It’s so crazy to think that was my last game cheering for football!

The next night was homecoming which was so much fun! I had a great night dancing with my friends and making memories. I loved my dress so much! It’s definitely my favorite one ever. It was tight, but very classy and I love the pearl details.

I did my own hair which was super nerve wracking but I was happy with how it turned out! For those wondering, I curled my hair with a wand to add texture and make it look fuller, then I lace braided the front on both sides then did a chignon in the back. It stayed all night thank God!! This dress is from Lulu’s and was only $48. I would totally recommend buying from there. It shipped really fast and was great quality. My shoes are Madden Girl from Journeys. I didn’t do any accessories besides Pearl earrings because I wanted to keep it simple and let the detail on the dress shine.

My first lasts as a senior made me realize this is it. You have to savor every moment and really take it in. So crazy to think next year I’ll be in college with new friends and a new place. Can’t wait to see what the rest of senior year has in store for me! I love seeing dance pictures so send them my way 😊 much love, babes

The Perfect Fall Scarf

Hey guys, long time no post! Senior year has been kicking my butt, but a new wave of inspiration has drifted in with the fall air and I’ve got a ton of new posts to share with you guys soon. Today, I’d like to share my new favorite fall accessory from Marleylilly!

Blanket scarfs have been all the rage for a few years now but I was never able to find the perfect one until this year. This monogrammed scarf from Marleylilly can also be worn as a poncho for double the fun fall looks. Today, I styled it with a black tee shirt dress, tan cardigan, and booties (pictured below). The colors in the red tartan perfectly coordinate with a lot of my wardrobe. It comes in tan, black, and navy also. The link to purchase yours is here. Right now they’re on sale for $29.99 (originally $44.99) so what are you waiting for?!?

As a poncho, I’d pair it with a white or black turtle neck with jeans or a chambray button down with black pants. As a scarf, the possibilities are endless! I plan on wearing it again this weekend with a sweatshirt, leggings, and duck boots.

This is one fall accessory I needed to boost my wardrobe this season. I can’t wait to style it more in the weeks to come! Keep your eyes out for more posts on here and my Instagram, @styleby_jessica. Until next time!!!

Jessica

Back to School Wishlist

Believe it or not, back to school is my favorite time of year. I love fall, football games, and boots! Fall fashion is the best, expecially since blush is the color of the season this year. To keep my school shopping on track, I go through my closet and get rid of things I don’t want, then make a list of things I want to look for. I’ve already done a little bit of school shopping and plan on doing a haul when I get most of it but for now I’d love to share with you guys some items and trends I’m digging for the fall/bts season!

This Monogrammed Sherpa Pullover from Marleylilly is so cute for fall! It looks super soft and comfy, perfect for chilly nights. I like that it’s tunic style so you don’t  feel bad  wearing it with leggings. I’d style this with leggings or jeans and my Sperry duck boots or riding boots.

This trend has been around for a little bit but it’s still going strong into fall. The distressed look makes a casual outfit more interesting and unique. I love this top from Forever 21 (pictured above in maroon). It’d be perfect to wear with jeans and an oversized cardigan to school!

This is another trend I think is super cute. I’ve been seeing corsets popping up since Kim K caused controversy by putting little North in one (which I thought was adorbs). This corset tee is a great way to try out this trend. Styled with a choker and jeans, as pictured above, this trend can be fun and school appropriate.

A cute plaid skirt is a closet staple! I love this one‘s a-line siloette and the fact you can wear it on your waist rather than hips. As a petite girl, I wear my skirts up a little to make me look taller and better proportioned. I would style this skirt with a button down or neutral sweater and a thick headband for some preppy Blair Waldorf vibes.

My last piece is more of a want than a need considering I own a billion pairs of shoes, but these are only $22.99! Mules are the hot shoe this season and Target has stepped up the game. These mules are the perfect pair for fall. I love the buckle detail on the top! And for that price? How can you say no. These would be so cute with the plaid skirt I talked about before or a casual pair of jeans.

I hope I’ve inspired your back to school shopping and made you all excited for fall! If you have any style questions or just wanna chat feel free to message me on Instagram, @styleby_jessica. Until next time ❤️

Lilly mini haul!

Since I’m about to start my senior year, I decided to treat myself and order some Lilly for back to school! It came in today and I wanted to show you guys what I got and share my first impressions of it. I ordered 4 things but unfortunately 1 of them didn’t fit so I have to return it 😦 I’ve never done a haul on my blog so let’s hope this goes well!

First is this super cute thermal mug in the print Ocean Jewel. I really like this print because of the color scheme and gold details. When I first unwrapped this mug, I was surprised by how sturdy it felt. The seal on it seems very tight too. Overall I really like it so far and can’t wait to use it! I couldn’t find it on the Lilly website again when I was trying to write this, but I did find it on Amazon. There’s a handful of other prints avalible but I think this one is so cute. Plus it’s only $15, what a steal!

Another thing I got is the essential Lilly Pulitzer agenda. I was going to wait until December to get a new one but then I decided I wanted to be able to see the whole school year at a glance. The print is called Beach Loot and I got this one because it has the perfect front to place a monograms sticker on. My agenda holds my entire life so I love the Lilly ones because they have a hard front and back. You can get yours here!

Lastly, I got these cropped leggings in Brilliant Blue Catch and Release. I am obsessed with this print!!! The crab and lobster details are so so cute. I fit in the kids sizes so I saved a little money on these. This is my second pair of Lilly leggings and I don’t know how I can go back to black leggings after owning these. The picture doesn’t even do the colors justice. They are very vibrant! I plan on styling these with a white tee or maybe navy. If you wear a women’s extra small or are petite, you would probably be able to fit in the kids extra large. You can grab these cute leggings here in this and 3 other new prints!

I got a kid’s tee shirt dress in an XL, but it was too short which is what I had feared. Oh well, now I know for next time. I’m one of those people who waits until school actually starts to wear my new school clothes so I won’t be doing any ootds with my new cropped leggings any time soon. I plan on doing a lot more ootd posts this school year so I can hopefully give you all some outfit inspo. I know I’m always looking for some! Let me know what you guys want to see next on my blog by commenting or DM-ing me. Until next time lovies,

xoxo Jessica

What’s in my bag: School Edition

Hi lovies! School is just around the corner which means making sure you have everything ready to go at 7:15 am. Yikes. To make my morning as stress free as possible, I pack my bag the night before to ensure I don’t forget anything. Today, I’m going to share with you guys what I typically keep in my school bag because I think these are the things every girl needs on the daily or in case of emergency. At school, whenever my friends need something they don’t have they always come to me first because I think of every worst case scenario possible and keep something to solve that problem handy. Keep reading to find out my ultimate school bag contents!

1. Stain Stick/Shout wipes- From coffee on a new pair of jeans to sauce on a white shirt, I’ve spilled it all. Nothing is worse than walking around with a huge spot on your clothes all day! With a stain stick handy, you can get it out or at least treat it until you can get home so it doesn’t ruin that new top. I like the Tide-to-go sticks myself, but I’ve heard good things about the Shout wipes as well. Either way, this product will save your life!

2. Water bottle/tumbler with straw- I drink water all day at school. Using a cute bottle or cup will inspire you to drink more water throughout the day which will leave your skin thanking you. I bring a reusable water bottle every day and fill it between classes so I have something to sip on while taking notes. This helps keep my attention in class and I don’t get that sweaty end of day feeling. I love this one from Lilly Pulitzer!

3. Chapstick- this is one of those things I always find myself needing half way through the day and if I don’t get it, it’ll bother me all day. I keep an EOS ball in my bag to avoid annoying chapped lips. I like the EOS ball because it’s big so if I reach in my bag blindly, I can usually find it quick.

4. Agenda- I never kept an agenda until a year or two ago. I use it to write down homework assignments, rehearsal schedules, etc. It’s very helpful to be able to look at the whole week or month at a glance. I always write in pencil in case of mistakes or changes. I love my Lilly Pulitzer one (I just ordered a new one for senior year!) but there’s cheaper options at Target or Walmart.

5. Homework folder/binder- This is a life saver! Making sure all my homework is in one, accessable place makes it much easier to keep it all organized. I use a binder with dividers in order of my classes throughout the day so during study hall I can do my homework in order of what’s due first. Having a binder for all your homework is the the most helpful thing any high schooler can have. I usually buy a more sturdy or cute binder for my homework because it’s the most important! I would definitely recommend all high schoolers to have a homework binder. The cute ones pictured above are from Target!

6. Gum- Post-coffee/lunch breath is the worst! Popping a piece of gum after lunch makes me feel like a new person.

7. Perfume/deodorant- Going along with number 6, feeling smelly half way through the day sucks. Refreshing your perfume or deodorant half way through the day can make you feel fresh and worry-free until that last bell.

As far as bags go, I have the North Face Jester bag in grey and turquoise (pictured above). I don’t really like backpacks but this one has padded straps and a padded back so it doesn’t hurt my shoulders. It also has a great laptop pouch and a lot of room for books and such. I got mine at Journey’s, but you can also purchase it at Dick’s Sporting Goods. Sometimes I’ll switch over to one of my big purses like the Michael Kors one I talked about in my July Picks because I like fashion over function (although that tote is PERF for a school bag).

I hope this post helps you guys have the best school year! I know I’m very nervous going into senior year and something that helps with that is being organized. I’ve got some big stuff coming up that I can’t wait to share with you guys. If there’s any more back to school posts you want to see, comment below or on my Instagram! Much love ❤️
